The Boston Cup: September 9-12, 2010
The inaugural event will take place on the historic Boston Common near the corner of Boylston and Tremont streets.
There will be 10 classes of 10 cars each and by invitation only. The proceeds after expenses will help restore The Boston Common and other charities requested by our partner sponsors.
The event will attract collector cars from local people such as Herb Chambers and Joe Freeman with his 1915 Duesenberg that just won at Amelia Island in March of this year. We hope to get some of the Lauren collection that was displayed at the Museum of Fine Arts here in Boston in 2005. Lee Iacocca has tentatively agreed in concept to be our Honorary Chair.
We have assembled a widely respected group of classic automobile experts for the governing committee including Fred Jackson who co-chaired the Castle Hill Concours committee on the North Shore. Others include Wayne Carini from "Chasing Classic Cars". In addition, Jim O'Sullivan, past national president of the Mercedes Benz Club of America will participate. Paul Russell who restores Ralph Lauren's collection, will be involved as well. The Kemp Auto Museum in St. Louis has committed 3 vehicles. Finally, we plan to give free space to The Larz Anderson Museum of Transportation.
The proposed program and locations for the Inaugural September 9 - 12, 2010 Event:
- Thursday Welcome Event – W Condos
- Friday night Fashion Show – W Hotel
- Saturday morning Road Rally to Larz Anderson
- Saturday night Banquet – The Ritz-Carlton Boston Common
